ARCHIVE:
On the occasion of the exhibition WILHELM FREDDIE / STICK THE FORK IN YOUR EYE! at SMK Artist group Ingen Frygt will decorate Karriere and give the evening a surreal twist.
In humorous dialogue with the artworks in Karriere, Ingen Frygt will transform the environment: The waiters will have new uniforms and surreal dirnks and snacks will be served in supplement to the ordinary menu. Sensual textures and bodily tableuax will dominate sculptural modification and designs.
Ingen frygt is the name of the collective consciousnes of three artists: Anna María Helgadóttir, Hannah Heilmann, Sigrún Gudbrandsdóttir. The worst and the best of contemporary culture and all kinds of stereotypes and clichées are scrutenized and explored in the art of Ingen Frygt.

WILHELM FREDDIE / STICK THE FORK IN YOUR EYE!
28 FEBRUARY – 1 JUNE 2009
Wilhelm Freddie (1909-1995) is a completely unique figure in Danish art, who was inspired in his stubborn opposition to the etiquette of the age by the new trends of the international art scene and became one of the major surrealists in Scandinavia and the rest of Europe. This comprehensive exhibition marks the centenary of Freddie’s birth and includes more than 130 works, plus reproductions of many now lost works, covering all aspects of his oeuvre: paintings, collages and sculptures. Freddie’s practice includes films, ballet, dress design, window decorations and happenings.

Meet Mads Lynnerup in an artist talk, 31st of August, 2pm at Karriere.

On 11 June, Karriere was visited by The Palm d’Or Social Club presenting its American’s Cabaret – a string of performances by international artists brought together to form a cabaret.
With Karriere transformed into a burlesque nightclub, complete with velvet-clad walls and muted lighting, the performances were presented in a continuous sequence – and delivered with an intensity that completely won over the place. The Karriere neon signion the street was temporarily taken over by the Americans from The Palm d’Or Social Club, who provided their take on the whole deal about ”art and social life” that Karriere prides itself on.
